Silverburn in Glasgow has been named the best destination shopping centre in the UK at the Revo Ace Awards, beating Brent Cross shopping centre and Centre:MK.

Silverburn

Owned by Hammerson, Silverburn houses coveted brands such as Flannels, MAC, Zara, H&M, Kurt Geiger, Debenhams and M&S. It also has a Cineworld cinema, PureGym, Pure Spa and a wide selection of restaurants.

The award’s destination category covers shopping places that are likely to occupy more than 1 million sq ft, have over 4+ hours dwell time and at least two anchor stores. It was won by Highcross in Leicester last year.

Mark Bourgeois, Hammerson managing director in the UK & Ireland, said: “It’s a real honour to receive this award – the team at Silverburn work tirelessly to deliver a great experience for our customers, and have made the centre into one of the premier retail and leisure destinations in Scotland.”

“Across all our flagship destinations, we work hard to provide a really engaging and attractive mix of brands for our customers, whether that’s retail, food and drink, or leisure. But we know that the really best retail destinations offer more than that, and that’s why we’re investing £2m in our experiential events programme this year, and why at the likes of Silverburn we’ve invested in things like hands-free shopping, click and collect services, and electric car charging points”.

Opened in 2007, Silverburn shopping centre has 105 tenants and annual footfall of 10.5 million people. In 2015 it opened a leisure-led extension, adding 11 new restaurants to the lineup including TGI Fridays, Pizza Express, Zizzi and Five Guys.
