The online fashion company, owner of digital department stores such as Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com, has partnered with Vectra to use its Cognito threat detection and response platform.

“Every organisation at some point is subject to a breach, incident or cyber event,” said Liam Fu, head of information security at Shop Direct.

“The ability to quickly and accurately detect and respond to threats is paramount, and Vectra is helping us reduce business risk.”

The Cognito platform uses artificial intelligence to reduce threat detection times, analysing everything from virtual workloads in data centres to internet-of-things devices. The highest- risk threats will be prioritised, enabling the Shop Direct security team to respond faster to stop in-progress attacks and avert data loss.

With over £1.9 billion in annual sales, Shop Direct said it needs to actively mitigate cyber risks to ensure the trust of its 4 million active customers.

“AI and machine learning are transforming cybersecurity and enabling enterprises to better defend themselves,” said Hitesh Sheth, president and CEO of Vectra.

“Organisations like Shop Direct are augmenting their security teams with AI to protect the success of their business."
