Shiseido's U.S. subsidiary is strengthening its e-commerce presence. Shiseido Americas Corporation, which has just created an e-commerce department, has appointed Jeanette Garner as Vice President of Global Ecommerce for Shiseido and NARS. As vice president of the e-commerce division, which includes the brands Shiseido and Nars, Jeanette Garner will develop online activities, marketing, merchandising and the operations of the two Japanese cosmetics brands.

Jeanette Garner — who will report to Pankaj Gupta, Executive Vice President of Finance, Operations and Regional Chief Financial Officer of Shiseido Americas Corporation — previously served at Lancôme L'Oreal USA as vice president of e-commerce and interactive marketing. Her career also took her to Victoria's Secret where she served as beauty director of merchandising and internet catalogs.

On its last fiscal year ended March 31, the Japanese group generated a revenue of 682.39 billion yen (6.65 billion euros) for an increase of 1.7%. And if Shiseido saw its sales drop to almost 1% in its domestic market due to competition from new entrants into the segment of luxury cosmetics, Japan still accounts for half of its sales (55.7%). The American continent accounts in turn for 12.7% of sales, just behind Europe which accounts for 13.1% of the group's global sales.
