Sézane gets in the groove with Benjamin Millepied

Published

Following in the swathe cut by La La Land, Sézane  plans to groove in Los Angeles as well. The red-hot online fashion forward French label has linked up with France’s most celebrated ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied, or rather with his Californian dance studio L.A. Dance Project.

L.A. Dance Project x Sézane

Founded by Millepied in 2012, the young dance troupe and Sézane have named the collaboration L.A. Dance Project x Sézane. Their capsule collection, consisting of 10 pieces, begins retailing on Wednesday, August 23.

The concept is designed to be a small body-conscious wardrobe that bridges the dance studio and the street. Leotards and ballet tops along with message T-Shirts reading “dancer,” and even a practical tote.

In a stellar career, Bordeaux-born Millepied rose to be the principal soloist of the New York City Ballet before retiring in 2011 and founding L.A. Dance Project. From October 2014 he was the Director of Dance of the Paris Opera Ballet, before resigning after an apparent in-house feud in 2016. However, he is arguably most famous for his work on the film Black Swan, where he met his wife actress Natalie Portman. Like his partner, he adores thinking outside of the box; connecting to other artistic disciplines; linking up with luxury brands. He is currently developing his own first feature film.

Making the meeting with Sézane fully in swing, seeing as the brand’s founder, Morgane Sézalory, is a long-time admirer of the LADP and a huge fan of contemporary dance.
