UK-based fashion supplier BHM Knitwear has been bought by its management team. Group managing director Ben Littlejohn and sales director Nick Barana led the buyout supported by unnamed industry investors.

BHM has seen a management buyout

Forty-year-old BHM predominantly designs women’s knitwear, supplying retailers in the UK and Europe, and has worked for Primark, Tesco, Pennies, ASOS and River Island.

The Fleckney, South Leicestershire-based business also has manufacturing sites in the UK, Romania, Turkey, China, Bangladesh and Myanmar. The business offers six-10-week lead times from Europe and Turkey and 10-20-week lead times from the Far East.

Littlejohn told Business-Live: “This deal provides a fantastic opportunity for myself, Nick, the investors and the rest of the team at BHM. The future of BHM looks incredibly exciting and I’d like to thank all of those involved in helping complete this deal”.

Gerald Couldrake, senior partner for deal advisor Howes Percival, added: “[This] looks to be an exciting opportunity to continue to grow the business over the coming years.

“With Covid restrictions, 2020 has been a tough year for many businesses. But despite the negative impact of the pandemic, BHM’s management team has managed to successfully grow the business, and gain support from external investors to complete the deal”.
