Selfridges taps Centre for Sustainable Fashion for Bright Young Things

Published

British department store retailer Selfridges' "Bright Young Things" platform, which champions young designers, has been going for five years. To celebrate the anniversary, Selfridges has teamed up with the Centre for Sustainable Fashion.

Together they selected nine designers who "put sustainability and innovative design side by side at the heart of their practice." The designers and brands are: Auria Swimwear, Clothsurgeon, EMG, Faustine Steinmetz, Hiut Denim, Katie Jones, Martina Spetlova, Mich Dulce, and Unmade.

Each designer will be mentored by the Centre for Sustainable Fashion and Selfridges, and create an Oxford Street window for Selfridges that will be seen by more than 110,000 people every day. One of the Bright Young Things will win a bursary to support the future development of their sustainable credentials.

“The project that began as Bright Young Things in 2011 has given us so much insight into the future of fashion. In this, its fifth incarnation, our Bright New Things take us far beyond brilliant design by sharing a powerful message of positivity and invention in retail. Here to stay, made to last, our Bright New Things prove that
the best fashion sustains.” says Selfridges Creative Director, Linda Hewson.

Bright Young Things launches in January 2016.
