And to underline the importance of the sector, the two-storey boutique becomes a first for the Japanese watchmaker. It said the layout enables the company to present Seiko and Grand Seiko collections in the same location but with dedicated showrooms for each.

The boutique also incorporates a separate private lounge on the first floor housing a display of the company’s Credor timepieces.

The 68 New Bond Street store features an “impressive” façade and main entrance, a series of large display windows facing the covered pedestrian passage linking New Bond Street to the newly-created Medici Court open-air meeting space, which leads to Hanover Square and the Elizabeth Line’s Bond Street station.

The boutique will host a series of exclusive events to commemorate the 140-year heritage of Seiko Watch Corporation.

UK-based fans will not only have the opportunity to view significant historical pieces on loan from the Seiko Museum in Tokyo, but also to preview the latest Grand Seiko ‘Kodo’ recently unveiled at Geneva’s Watches & Wonders exhibition.

UK Managing Director David Edwards said: “This is a very exciting time for Seiko Watch Corporation globally right now, particularly Seiko and Grand Seiko in the UK & Ireland. With the new boutique we will not only able to create distinct luxurious spaces for both brands, but also be positioned within an area of London, which is rightfully globally synonymous with luxury goods.”
