Scott Sports set to buy Dolomite from Tecnica

The Tecnica group will finally be able to sell Dolomite. Last year, Italian media announced a sale agreement between Tecnica and US group Symphony Global Brands, but the transaction didn't go through in the end. This time, a deal seems to be well on its way with the Scott Sports group.

The management of the Swiss group, whose majority shareholder since last year is Korean company Youngone, reportedly signed a preliminary agreement with Giancarlo and Alberto Zanatta, at the head of the Tecnica group. The latter wishes to refocus its activity on performance outdoor brands.

Dolomite, a brand with a sportswear feel inspired by the world of mountaineering, which was acquired in 1998, apparently doesn't fit with Tecnica's plans any longer. The brand claims a presence in over 1,500 retail outlets and is expected to generate some €18 million in revenues in 2015.

The acquisition would allow Scott Sports to strengthen its portfolio. For the Swiss group, Scott covers the cycling and skiing segments. Last year, Scott Sports acquired US brand Powder Horn, which is positioned in the freeride skiing segment. With Dolomite, the group remains within the mountain domain, but will approach a more fashion-oriented segment.
