The ‘Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh’ exhibition taking place at the Saatchi Gallery later this year will make it impossible for fashion trade fair Scoop to return to its home for its next edition.

The trade event organised by ITE Group said that the AW20 show will be held at the Old Billingsgate Market in the heart of the City of London.

This is because the Saatchi Gallery, which has hosted the contemporary womenswear trade show for many seasons, will present 150 original artefacts from Tutankhamun’s tomb as part of the new exhibition.

But the venue change will be for one season only, show organisers said.

Taking place on 9-11 February, the Old Billingsgate market will be transformed into a fashion destination, with dozens of brands expected to present their AW20/21 collections to UK and international buyers.

The announcement comes days after the last Scoop event, held at the Saatchi Gallery on 21-23 July. An impressive line-up of new exhibitors including M.A.B.E, Self Cinema, Yolke, Narces, I Candi Rocks, Miki Mialy, La Cabane De Stella, OOF, Sneaky Steve and Autumn Cashmere joined the trade show, while returning favourites included Ossie Clark x Primrose Park, PS by Paul Smith, Liberty London, Charlotte Sparre, Charlotte Simone, Hayley Menzies, Scotch and Soda and Paul and Joe Sister.

“Scoop is renowned internationally by designers, fashion buyers and industry experts for its exclusive presentation and expertly curated edit of designers and labels from Britain and the rest of the world. It was wonderful to welcome an exclusive selection of new designers this season, as well as some beautiful new collections from returning labels,” said Karen Radley, founder and managing director of Scoop.

New beauty brand Trinny London hosted a Beauty Lounge where visitors were able to book makeup appointments, and the season’s campaign: ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ saw the vibrant artwork, designed by Ratti S.p.A. Como, pay homage to this year’s Met Gala in New York.

Scoop said buyers from premium department stores such as Galeries Lafayette, Liberty London, Harvey Nichols, The Conran Shop and Net A Porter attended the event, as well as independent boutiques including Bishop Phillpott, Doyles, The Hambledon, The Dressing Room, The Mercantile London, Precious London, Jules B and Young Ideas.
