French ready-to-wear label Sandro is launching into childrenswear, with a capsule collection inspired by Muppet Show character Kermit the Frog. The line also features womenswear and will be available at Sandro stores from September 25.

Sandro's founder Evelyne Chetrite picked the Muppet Show as the collection’s theme for its quirky vibe and pop-inspired imagery. The collection consists of 20 womenswear items and 12 items for children aged 4 to 10, both young girls and boys, with prices ranging between €65 and €95 for children and €75 and €265 for adults. As the collection’s furry mules, Kermit the Frog sweaters and printed t-shirts show, Sandro has gone for a humorous touch.
 
For the time being however, featuring childrenswear in the label’s permanent collections is not a consideration. Sandro in fact indicated that the children’s line “is a one-off concept, inspired by the collection's cheerful, playful style [which gave us] the idea of making some [of these items] also available for children.”

Sandro is owned by French fashion group SMCP, which earlier in the month published its H1 results for 2018, posting a consolidated net income of €27.4 million. For the group, which also owns the Maje and Claudie Pierlot labels, it was a 30-fold increase over the net income generated in the same period last year. In the same period, the group’s revenue was €493.3 million, allowing CEO Daniel Lalonde to tell FashionNetwork.com last July that  “2018 could be the year in which we top the €1 billion revenue mark.”
