Sales surge 10% at Springfields Outlet over school summer holidays

An improved leisure offer has helped Springfields Outlet in Spalding report a 10% increase in sales over the school summer holiday period, with footfall up 9% ahead of last year.

The village-style outlet centre said the recently opened Springfields Adventure Land, which includes eight themed attractions including the largest JCB Young Driver’s Zone in the country, helped retailers sell more in August.

In fact, total revenue jumped by 23% on Bank Holiday Monday, when there were 32% more visitors to the centre than last year. 65% of retailers traded up by as much as 47% over the same period in 2017, its manager revealed in a statement this week.

Additionally, three top brands, Joules, Estee Lauder and White Stuff, signed up to join the destination’s lineup.

Ian Sanderson, director of SLR, the company that manages the scheme, said: “As outlets continue to go mainstream and attract more customers, the importance of creating a destination that appeals to the whole family increases. We are pleased to see that customers are visiting the scheme from further afield and are staying for longer, to the benefit of our retailers and F&B operators. This has been reflected in greater interest from strong brands and the three new signings announced in the past two months typify this.”

Joules is set to move into a 3,345-square-foot unit, and White Stuff has signed for a 2,006 square-foot store. Their signing follows that of The Cosmetics Company Store, part of the Estee Lauder Companies, which launched at Springfields Outlet earlier in the summer.

The scheme is also host to brands such as FatFace, Next, Skechers, GAP, Ernest Jones, Radley and M&S
