Saks reveals new holiday concept "The Winter Palace"

It's a fairy tale story at Saks Fifth Avenue this season, as the luxury retailer embraces "The Winter Palace", its theme for the holidays, which will feature "towering light icicles, crystal palace spires, and snowy magnolia arches".

For its windows, Saks chose the theme "Winter Wonders of the World," re-imagining iconic places in a wintry guise - like the Great "Brrrier" Reef.

"New York during the holidays is quite a magical experience, filled with excitement from visitors all around the world. Yet, the most breathtaking and wondrous sights are the holiday windows showcasing the creations from retailers' imaginations," commented Mark Briggs, Executive Vice President, HBC Creative. "New York would not be the same if it weren't for the whimsical lands and twinkling decor of the holiday windows. I am excited for sightseers to see our very unique creations this year."

The windows will also host the Winter Palace banquet, featuring holiday fashions.

The Fifth Avenue flagship will feature a new theatrical light show, with three-dimensional elements. On November 23, when the concept launches, 200 choir members from The Oratorio Society of New York and the Cathedral Choristers of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine will sing carols outside the store.
