Saint Laurent Rive Droite drops magazine dedicated to emerging artists

Parisian concept store Saint Laurent Rive Droite continues to focus on the contemporary art scene. After exhibiting the work of London photographer Derek Ridgers in February, the store, opened in 2019 and the brainchild of Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Saint Laurent, has now announced the launch of FANZINE, a magazine conceived as a platform for emerging artists.

For its first issue, FANZINE has collaborated with young British photographer Indigo Lewin, who selected for the occasion a number of exclusive pictures from her photo archive. London-born Lewin showcases her keen eye for personal relationships, bodies and youth through a series of pictures taken among her close friends.

“What transpires from Indigo's pictures is a touching revelation of the incredible beauty behind people’s shared moments,” said Saint Laurent in a press release. In 2020, the French label generated a revenue of €1.7 billion. The hitherto unpublished images are accompanied by Lewin's own comments: “[Lewin] guilelessly invites readers to connect with her, as though they were reading extracts from her private diary,” added Saint Laurent.

FANZINE is available from September 16 until October 15 at the two Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles, alongside an exhibition dedicated to Lewin’s work.

For many years, Saint Laurent, owned by French luxury group Kering, has expressed its interest in art by staging exhibitions and other initiatives at its concept store on rue Saint-Honoré, in the heart of Paris. The launch of FANZINE is further evidence that cultural engagement is an essential element in the heritage of the label founded in 1961 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé.
