SWIMS opens first store in Dubai

Norwegian lifestyle brand SWIMS on Monday announced the opening of its first store in Dubai at the Mercato Shopping Mall. The store is SWIMS’ fourth brick-and-mortar retail location, joining its stores in Kuwait, Bahrain and Cartagena.

The brand called on Martin Aker, the Managing Director of Scandinavian Display, to design the boutique. Aker stayed true to SWIMS’ classic yet modern Scandinavian heritage while incorporating attributes of Dubai’s beaches and culture with the use of light oak wood, leather and opal glass doors, cool black polished flooring and subtle white hues. The orange hues used throughout the décor are the signature touch of the brand.
 
Johan Ringdal, Founder and Creative Director of SWIMS, shares his excitement for SWIMS Dubai, “I’m thrilled to finally open in Dubai—a project which has been in development for quite some time now. Although we have a very strong Scandinavian heritage, our customers are located throughout the world and Dubai has always been an important market for us.”

SWIMS was founded by Ringdal in 2005 with the launch of a colorful collection of galoshes. The brand is carried in over 1,200 retailers in over 40 countries including Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks Brothers in the US; Isetan in Japan; Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges in the UK; and Colette, L’Éclaireur and Le Bon Marché in France.
