Acne Studios has signed up the basketball player Russell Westbrook to front key looks in its denim-focused spring/summer 2019 campaign. The Swedish brand shared a first campaign image Friday, February 8 on Instagram.

Acne Studios is putting the USA in the spotlight for the second consecutive season. After shooting Cindy Crawford in Texas for the fall/winter 2018-2019 season, the brand headed to Oklahoma City to catch up with NBA baller, Russell Westbrook.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star is shot by the renowned photographer Juergen Teller, dribbling the ball on an outdoor court. In this first campaign image, he wears a jacket and jeans from the Acne Studios denim collection.

These denim pieces haven't been picked at random. As well as nodding to the first garment ever made by Acne Studios when the label was created, denim is also synonymous with the USA.

When he's not on the basketball court, Russell Westbrook is an avid fashion fan. He even has his own streetwear label, called Honor the Gift.
