River Island unveils “Click and Don’t Collect” service

Tackling the issue of non-collection of online orders in-store, the British retailer is working together with the platform Shutl on a new delivery service. The “Click and Don’t Collect” service offers shoppers who have selected the in-store collection option of changing to Shutl’s delivery service and getting their orders delivered instead to their door within 90 minutes, or at a time convenient to them.

The service is already live and costs £4.95 per shipping.

According to Shutl, one in five UK shoppers request a refund instead of collecting their purchase in store, leaving retailers with stock level issues. As seasonal shopping increases, River Island will be the first store to launch this service nationwide.

Doug Gardner, CIO, River Island says: “We have a number of click and collect orders that customers have paid for and are subsequently unable to collect from store. The rigours of modern life mean that it is not always convenient for them to make the time to go and receive their goods, and, in order to avoid simply refunding the customer, we found the solution offered by Shutl a highly effective one in terms of customer convenience and saving sales.”

The service run by Shutl, a delivery service company that gives people control over their deliveries, is already live and costs £4.95 per shipping.
