River Island to upsize Frenchgate store

Popular retail chain River Island is increasing its presence within Frenchgate shopping centre in Doncaster to stock a broader in-store offer.

The retailer has plans to expand its existing unit on the first floor of the centre to 10,500 sq ft, where it will showcase a full children’s range and more fashion styles.

Holly Fulco, Senior Press Officer at River Island, said: “The new store at Frenchgate will allow us to offer shoppers from across the region wider variety and improved choice.  We are delighted to be launching this new store in the run-up to Christmas and look forward to the busy festive trading period at Frenchgate.”

The news come as the UK’s largest jewellery retailer Argento prepares to double the size of its existing store at Frenchate. The jewellery company will extend into an adjacent unit to increase its presence from 1,100 sq ft to 2,150 sq ft, and has invested in a store refit to coincide with the expansion.

The shopping centre said the reconfigurations were driven by the consistently strong performance of River Island and Argento since joining Frenchgate.  

The two larger stores have been joined by Krispy Kreme, WH Smith, Yours Clothing, Toys R Us and KFC, which have all signed extended leases and completed refits at Frenchgate in the past months.
