River Island launches Blood Brother collaboration

Published
Jan 4, 2018

River Island’s latest design collaboration is with Blood Brother, the London-based menswear brand best known for its strong visual codes and technical outerwear.

Founded by Nicholas Biela and James Waller, Blood Brother created an 11-piece collection for River Island’s support platform Design Forum.

The collection takes cues from vintage streetwear references, with highlights including indigo denim jeans and a MA1 patch-pocket denim jacket. A borg fleece jacket and leather hiking boots reveal new interpretations of military style, while orange hues offset an otherwise muted colour palette of black, indigo and grey.

Graphic warning slogans, CCTV glitch prints, police safety signs and HTML code complete the garments with a visual code that shapes this utilitarian uniform for the urban environment.

Nick Biela, creative director of Blood Brother commented on the collaboration with River Island: “The Design Forum collection is a product of acknowledgment from River Island. They gave us the freedom to delve into our design universe and ideas and we worked very closely with the design team. Taking inspiration from our LOGIN SS18 narrative, we strived to create a collection that not only stays true to our core design aesthetic, but appeals to River Island’s global audience.”

The collection launches this month in selected stores and online, with prices starting from £15.
