Rick Owens drops collaboration with French sneaker brand Veja

Rick Owens has teamed up with Parisian sneaker label Veja for a unique collaboration. The partnership had already been introduced at the luxury label’s Fall/Winter 2019 menswear show, when US designer Owens presented several models wearing sneakers by eco-sustainable brand Vejaon the catwalk, alongside his classic platform wedges.

The collaboration was unexpected, coming in the wake of Rick Owens’s four-year partnership with Adidas. It wasn't however a complete surprise, since Owens is well-known for his eco-responsible approach and his willingness to change the ways of the fashion industry.

“[Veja] was the most eco-friendly sneaker label I was able to find,” said Owens. “I’m in favour of a more responsible attitude towards consumption, with our future in mind, and we need to start somewhere.” Veja sneakers are manufactured according to vegan principles, using organic cotton and rubber imported from the Amazon rainforest.

The new model created with Rick Owens is available in three colours, black, taupe and white, priced at €285.
