Remus Uomo to sponsor RTé’s FIFA World Cup coverage

Independent menswear brand Remus Uomo has a plan to reach millions of new customers in Ireland by sponsoring RTé’s coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in a major broadcast sponsorship deal.

Kicking off on 14 June and running until the final on 15 July, the clothing group’s sponsorship will include a mix of ten and seven second stings across all live matches, highlight shows and online at RTÉ Player for catch-up services.

There will be digital ads running throughout the tournament on RTÉ’s world cup mini-site and the Remus Uomo logo will be used in pre-promotional advertising. Additionally, there will be pre-recorded radio adverts on live outside broadcasts relating to the tournament on RTÉ radio.

To support the sponsorship, Remus Uomo has created a campaign with the tag line ‘Play with Style’ and will ask its stockists and franchise partners to incorporate the new ad material into VM displays in the run up to and during the FIFA World Cup.

Additionally, store staff and customers will be invited to share videos of their sharpest football skills on social media. Remus Uomo will shortlist four stores and visit each with a freestyle footballer for one- on-one coaching sessions which will be filmed for a co-branded social media video.

Martin Byrne, marketing manager at Remus Uomo, said: “Everyone at Remus Uomo is really excited to be a sponsor of RTÉ’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup. We’ve arranged a series of fun competitions and challenges for our own stores and our stockists across the country to help them and their customers get involved in our “Play With Style” campaign and we are all looking forward to a great summer of sport.”

The brand is stocked in over 350 independent fashion retailers across the UK and Ireland. It also has its own e-commerce site and retail outlets operated directly and through franchise partners.
