Rebag expands into watches and fine jewelry

Having launched accessories earlier this year, luxury resale platform Rebag announced further category expansions on Wednesday, revealing that it is now selling and accepting watches and fine jewelry.

 
The company is introducing the new categories with a carefully curated selection of products from top watch and jewelry brands including Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Hublot, Tiffany & Co. and Van Cleef & Arpels.
 
As with Rebag’s existing categories, clients can now sell watches and fine jewelry that feature on the platform’s list of accepted designers and models. They can do so by taking their pieces to a physical Rebag location or by submitting them via post, with the option to receive an instant valuation through the company’s online Clair service.

“After successfully expanding into accessories earlier this year, our entry into the watches and fine jewelry category is the natural next step for us,” said Rebag CEO and founder Charles Gorra in a release. “Rebag is the expert and ultimate destination for all luxury goods. We’re excited to offer our customers a new category of items to invest in.”
 
Founded in 2014, Rebag was initially focused exclusively on luxury handbags. The platform’s recent category expansions are part of a wider strategy aiming to diversify and improve the company’s services.
 
In October 2019, Rebag revealed Clair (Comprehensive Luxury Appraisal Index for Resale), a tool allowing its clients to receive an instant valuation for pieces that they intend to sell. According to the company, since launching the resource, it has seen submissions of items triple.
 
Furthermore, in May of this year, Rebag extended its Infinity program, allowing shoppers to trade purchases back to the platform for between 70% and 80% of the original Rebag price up to a year after buying them.
 
As of July, the platform also shares its expertise through The Vault, which features a range of content concerning luxury resale created by Rebag’s own in-house experts.
 
From Wednesday onwards, watch and fine jewellery clients will be able to benefit from both Clair and Rebag Infinity, while The Vault will also begin covering the newly launched categories.
