On October 31, Bob McKnight will no longer be executive chairman of Quiksilver. A chapter will close in the company’s history with the departure of the executive who co-founded the eponymous brand in 1976. McKnight served as president of the brand from 1979 to 1991 and CEO from 1991 to 2013.

When Andy Mooney was appointed in early 2013 in order to reorganize the group and to give it a new direction, McKnight became executive chairman of the board.

The group has now announced his retirement. However, he will remain on in a non-executive role at the board sports group.

Andy Mooney has been elected chairman of the board. Pierre Agnes, meanwhile, president of Quiksilver Europe since 2005, will be promoted to president of Quiksilver on November 1. The French executive was already named global head of apparel and accessories last year. A former surfing champion, he started working with Quiksilver in 1988.
