Queen to open experiential Carnaby store, features fashion collabs

Published

First it was a Rolling Stones store, now mega-band Queen is to open a space on Carnaby Street with an experiential pop-up shop that celebrates five decades of its music and featuring fashion collaborations, among other products.

Called Queen The Greatest, it will open on Carnaby Street for three months with the line-up including limited edition music releases and lifestyle products (as well as those fashion items) and events and products drops that will be happening weekly.

There will be three monthly themes (Music, Art & Design and Magic), as well as visual installations about Queen and its history.

The opening later this month is another sign of the comeback of Carnaby Street and its neighbouring streets as the West End continues to recover from the pandemic.

Carnaby has seen a succession of openings — many of them temporary pop-ups — that add a quirky element to the mix on the street. Combined with a series of flagship openings on nearby Regent Street, it’s all part of a process that could help the West End get back top its previous status as one of the world’s most visited shopping districts.

The Queen store covers two floors with decade-specific areas such as 70s thrift store, a look at 80s live performances, and a 90s record store, moving into the 21st century with DVDs and tech.

The apparel collection takes in collaborations Champion, Wrangler and Johnny Hoxton jewellery. And there’s an exclusive Freddie Mercury T-shirt with proceeds going to the Mercury Phoenix Trust that raises funds and awareness for HIV/Aids.
