Pyer Moss launches Exist to Resist social justice platform
New York-based fashion brand Pyer Moss has launched “Exist to Resist,” a new platform dedicated to bringing attention to social justice organizations. On Tuesday, the company revealed the first installment in a series of limited-edition products, proceeds from which will go towards funding the work of these associations.
The first offering from Exist to Resist is the Sean John by Pyer Moss “Vote or Die… For Real” tee, which aims to raise awareness about Rock the Vote, an NGO working to empower young people politically.
First unveiled at the Pyer Moss runway show in September, the piece is a reinterpretation of Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ “Vote or Die” tee, which was launched in 2004 as a nationwide voter registration program targeting young people and minorities.
The new version of the piece is a white tee, the front of which features the words “Vote or Die For Real This Time!”, as well as Pyer Moss and Sean John co-branding. The back of the t-shirt is decorated with a black graphic design and the words “The Promise of America” in red.
Rock the Vote will receive all proceeds from the tee, which is launching exclusively on the Pyer Moss e-commerce site.
“We are at a pivotal moment and the world is watching. Those on the front line who are challenging the ills that potentially plague our future represent the best of us,” said the brand in a release. “Our roles as creatives are evolving to identify these voices, amplify their efforts and aid them where we can. Our collective existence is resistance.”
Through Exist to Resist, Pyer Moss will collaborate with a range of different organizations to create other limited-edition products. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of all products created in this way through the platform will be donated to the relevant social justice organization in order to support their community work.
