The new store measures 56,000 sqft. and is spread over two floors. It sells menswear, womenswear and kidswear, as well as gifts, health and beauty, and the brand's Primarket line of travel accessories, tech and stationary items. It will also sell homewares.

All 400 members of staff in the new store will be from Italy, and many of them from the Arese area.

Commenting on the launch of Primark in Italy, Paul Marchant, Chief Executive of Primark, said: “We are thrilled to be opening our first store in Italy in the Il Centro shopping centre in Arese, Milan.  This new Primark store will offer our new Italian customers amazing fashion at amazing prices for all the family.”

Primark is also providing free wi-fi and a "relaxing area" in the store, where customers can sit and take a break during their shopping trip. The size of the store means that a lot of changing rooms are necessary - it has 63 of them, and 46 tills.

Next month, May 2016, will see Primark open another three stores, in York Monks Cross in the UK and Groningen and Alkmaar in The Netherlands. In June, the fast fashion behemoth is opening its third US store in Danbury Fair in Danbury, Connecticut.
