Value fashion retail giant Primark continues its expansion in the US, announcing it’s “taking New York by storm” with the opening of three new stores in the region.

With a target to reach 60 US stores by 2026, the trio of New York Metro openings are in Roosevelt Field in Garden City; Long Island, Jamaica Avenue in Queens; and City Point in Brooklyn. This takes the current US total to 16 and its worldwide tally to 411.

The Roosevelt Field Mall store opened this week within a 44,290 sq ft space, while the Jamaica Avenue store, which opens on 1 December, “is positioned to help revitalise a hot spot for retail”.

The new City Point store also opens in December within a recently constructed complex that will have frontage onto Fulton Street, “giving Primark prime access to Brooklyn's principal retail high street as well as easy access from Manhattan”.

This brings Primark's presence in the New York City region to five stores. In addition, its said it has signed a new lease for a store at Queens Center in Queens.

Kevin Tulip, President, Primark US, said: “We're excited for the future in New York, as our current stores have shown the important role we can play in the region as an affordable and inclusive retailer, bringing back the allure of brick-and-mortar.”
