Middlesbrough-based Presca, which makes high-performance teamwear from recycled materials, has teamed up with Vitus Pro Cycling Team to demonstrate the potential of its sustainable offer.

The cycling team will wear Presca’s technical team kit in UCI Continental races throughout 2019.

The collaboration, founded in a values-based approach to racing, will prove that clothing made from recycled materials can also offer the same high performance as those produced using conventional processes.

The technical garments are made using yans extruded from recycled materials, including fishing nets and plastic bottles, causing less environmental harm than other kits.

Presca also manufactures all of its clothing in the UK, shortening supply chains and negating the environmental impact of transport from production facilities overseas, while supporting the UK’s regional and national economies.

Cherie Pridham, owner of Vitus Pro Cycling, commented: “By creating advanced apparel from sustainable materials, Presca exemplifies our own commitment to responsible racing.”

Robert Webbon, Presca Teamwear CEO and founder, added: “This exciting partnership with Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK, proves that performance and sustainability work hand-in-hand. The kit has been developed in partnership with Cherie Pridham and her team.”

Founded last year, the clothing manufacturer also creates custom sportswear for individual athletes, and sustainable kits for cycling, swim, run and triathlon teams.
