Podcast: Lucie Soulard of Place2Swap discusses tech innovation in second-hand market with Godfrey Deeny

Helping fashion labels expand in the second-hand market, bypassing third-party intermediation sites like Vestiaire Collective or Vinted: this is the challenge for Lucie Soulard, CEO of Place2Swap, a white-label marketplace that enables private individuals to sell their pre-owned products directly on the labels’ e-shops where they bought them. In this new episode (in French) of the LuxurynsightXFashionNetwork podcast, Place2Swap’s CEO and co-founder explains to Godfrey Deeny, global editor-in-chief of FashionNetwork.com, how ready-to-wear labels could regain control of their brand image and products within the circular economy.

Luxurynsight X FashionNetwork · Ep 55: Lucie Soulard talks to Godfrey Deeny about “Reinventing the second-hand market” FR

Place2Swap, a software-as-a-service platform that recently obtained B-Corp certification, has developed a technology solution that labels can integrate into their e-stores. It enables private individuals to swap products among themselves while having access, by default, to the labels’ catalogues and to detailed product information sheets. Through a tech solution that makes it possible for pre-owned items to be bought and sold on their e-shops, labels can tap the online second-hand market directly, regaining control of their products and their brand image.

A study by the Boston Consulting Group, published on October 5, highlighted the huge potential of the second-hand market, which has tripled in value since 2020 and is worth nearly $120 billion. This underlying phenomenon is one of the current challenges that fashion labels need to address. According to Soulard, it is key for them to adapt in order to respond to the new behaviour and expectations of consumers.
