Aug 22, 2016
UK plus-size label Scarlett & Jo achieved turnover of £535K in its first half-year of trading as an independent company, it has announced.

The brand was sold exclusively by Evans from February 2013 until November last year, when it decided to become independent. In only six months, Scarlett & Jo has secured deals with SimplyBe, Yours Clothing, Amazon Prime, Asos and most recently, Debenhams.
Founded by veteran designer Gifi Fields, Scarlett & Jo offers feminine cuts and shapes designed to enhance the full figured woman. It expects turnover for the year ending November 2016 to reach £1.5m and is planning to raise an additional £5m, including a possible £1m through crowdfunding, to fund its expansion.
“We have made huge strides since our launch six months ago,” said Gifi Fields in a press release. “The next step for us now is to raise additional funds to help augment our customer reach through marketing and IT functions. We have built up a faithful base, with customers on average returning for their next purchase after just 33 days. And this is all because we engage in a genuine two-way dialogue with them. We listen, we reflect, and we do.”
“We are looking to extend by license the brand trade mark to shoes, accessories, bags and beauty care products and we envisage an IPO within a three to five year timescale,”, he added.
Scarlett & Jo produces clothes in sizes 14 up to 32. It says its success lies on its ability to provide fashion for everybody with dedicated tall and petite ranges, and a maternity collection to follow shortly.
