Plans announced for £8m redevelopment of Angel Central

Published
Sep 21, 2017

Angel Central is to undergo a £8million refurbishment and redevelopment, announced CBRE Global Investors on Wednesday.

Located in the heart of Islington, Angel Central is one of London’s top retail destinations, offering brands such as H&M, Gap, French Connection, Rituals, Monsoon, Oasis, Calzedonia, L'Occitane, Muji and Accessorize.

Benefitting from its close proximity to Angel Station, the 170,000 sq ft centre is visited by 10 million visitors a year.

CBRE said the £8 million redevelopment project will add a new link bridge at the Liverpool Road entrance spanning the width of the scheme to create a circular connected experience at the first floor.

Changes include a new lighting scheme, cladding and upgraded flooring, as well as the creation of three new restaurants with a vibrant new alfresco space to enhance the existing leisure offer.

“We are pleased to be able to share our vision for Angel Central. Our investment highlights the importance we place on the visitor experience and our desire to grow Angel Central as one of the leading retail and leisure destinations in North London,” said Laura Wilson-Brown, Director at CBRE Global Investors. “The refurbishment and development will create an attractive, welcoming space for visitors to meet, day or night, whilst also building upon the leisure offers already available, such as the cinema and the O2 Academy.”

Queensberry and architects Haskoll have been appointed to deliver the vision, with work scheduled to start in January 2018. The redevelopment project is expected to be completed in early 2019.
