Womenswear label Pinko is adding a notch to its belt. Its women's ready-to-wear and accessories offer will soon include a collection of sunglasses called "The Pinko Invasion".

The entirely made in Italy collection will be created and produced in collaboration with Italia Independent, the eyewear brand launched in 2007 by Lapo Elkann, the grandson of Gianni Agnelli, with Giovanni Accongiagioco and Andrea Tessitore, and now a listed company.

Pinko is partnering with Italia Independent to launch its first eyewear collection

The collection consists of four models, each one with twelve colour schemes, designed to complete the total Pinko look and considered to be an integral part of the spring/summer 2016 collection.

The main model was unveiled during Milan Fashion Week at a special event and will go on sale, with the rest of the collection, as of December for €150 in a selection of Pinko stores, at Italia Independent and on online retail sites that carry the two brands.

"Eyewear is a new adventure for us, a strategic product category with long-term potential," said Pietro Negra, the head of the label, which has 180 stores around the world.

In 2014, the Cris Conf group, which owns Pinko, generated revenue of €172 million, 50% of which from exports, up 7% from 2013, and reported an (EBITDA) of €27.4 million.
