PETA calls for a wool-free winter

The animal rights organization PETA has launched a new campaign just in time for Black Friday, calling on its supporters to write magazine and newspaper editors and ask them to stop promoting wool products. The organization will also lead demonstrations in Los Angeles, New York and other cities across the US.

The campaign follows PETA’s latest video exposé, which was released on Tuesday and evidences animal cruelty on an Australian sheep farm. The video furthers PETA’s goal to reveal that sheep are mutilated, abused and skinned alive in many farms around the globe, including sustainable farms.

“Over and over, eyewitnesses have found that gentle sheep are punched in the face, slammed into the floor, and barbarically killed for wool sweaters and scarves,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on kind people everywhere to make this a wool-free winter and wear vegan.”

PETA has already released five exposés recorded at 37 facilities on three continents.
