Online to match in-store shopping this Christmas
Nov 22, 2016
This Christmas season will see online shopping reach parity with digital buying, according to new research from Rubicon Project.
An annual survey found that 76% of UK shoppers plan to make their Christmas shopping online, matching the number of customers who plan to shop in-store. Furthermore, almost 9 in 10 shoppers will shop and/or research their Christmas purchases online.
The survey, conducted by global polling firm Penn Schoen Berland, included 1,000 interviews among Christmas shoppers in the UK.
It also found that the anticipated spend for millenials has reached an average of £870 per person, compared with non-millenials who plan to spend an average of £717 at Christmas.
Overall, shoppers are expected to spend more than they did in 2015, despite Brexit worries. The anticipated for Christmas this year is £748 per person, compared with £732 per person last year.
