Additionally, Matt Robinson, group finance director, has been promoted to chief financial officer for the group, effective immediately.

Both Stewart and Robinson will report to group CEO Hash Ladha, who has been leading the portfolio of brands since 2018.

As managing director of Warehouse, Stewart led the recovery of the brand, helping develop a more elevated sensibility and achieving a sustained growth in profits. In her new role as group CPO, she will oversee the buying, merchandising, design and brand marketing functions for both Oasis and Warehouse.

Both Stewart and Robinson have been with the group for a long time, since 1994 and 2007 respectively. Robinson became head of finance for Oasis and Warehouse in 2013, and finance director in 2014. As CFO, he will have responsibility for the property, IT and distribution teams as well as the finance function.

Hash Ladha said: “Both Paula and Matt have proved themselves over many years as dedicated Oasis and Warehouse team members who have excelled in their respective roles. Their promotion plays to the strengths of the talent across the group. I am delighted that we have been able to leverage our talent and make these two key appointments by promoting internally.”

In the year to March 2, the group swung from a £10m loss to a £1.6m pre-tax profit, even though comparable sales dropped 2% to £270m. The company, which is controlled by failed Icelandic bank Kaupthing, also owns menswear destination The Idle Man.
