Notonthehighstreet loses e-commerce director

Published
Jun 11, 2018

Notonthehighstreet has lost its e-commerce director with Ollie Scheers having moved on after spending less than 18 months in the role.

The online gifting retailer said he has joined powdered foods company Huel, also as its e-commerce chief.

Scheers had been promoted to the job at Notonthehighstreet as recently as February 2017 but the company isn't replacing him. Instead it has shared out the e-commerce director’s responsibilities among other members of its executive and product teams.

The online retailer has seen a lot of change in recent periods with Barrie Seidenberg taking over as chief executive officer in March to fill a gap that had been empty since Simon Belsham left to join Jet.com in 2017. Its technology chief also left last year.

Despite his short tenure in the e-commerce role, Scheers have been with the company for around four years and held a number of key posts there including optimisation and analytics manger, head of digital product and head of merchandising. He was clearly well thought of and his success in winning a major position in a different product category altogether underlines that.

The company has been investing heavily in its digital capabilities in recent periods and its most recent set of results (released last autumn for the year to March 31) showed sales rising as a result. But its losses also widened.
