Nicky Kinnaird joins Debenhams' board of directors

Space NK founder Nicky Kinnaird MBE has been appointed as non-executive director at Debenhams, effective from 15 November.

She founded the beauty apothecary Space NK in 1993 and left the company in 2014 to set up her own brand consultancy.
"We are very pleased that Nicky is joining the board. She brings a wealth of experience and understanding in brand development and the global beauty industry. ‎Her knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as Debenhams embarks on the next stage of its development under new leadership," said Sir Ian Cheshire, Chairman.

Beauty, especially premium make-up, was one of Debenhams’ strongest categories in the year to August 27 2016, according to the retailer’s full year results report.

The company is now focused on growing its non-clothing categories such as beauty, gifts, occasionwear, furniture and lighting.
