Net-A-Porter has unveiled a capsule collaboration for party season with Versace as the e-tailer continues the trend for luxury e-stores to offer as much exclusive product as they can.

As part of its party edit, the cross-category capsule features 25 pieces, including 13 ready-to-wear items, there pairs of shoes, three bags and six items of jewellery in black and white.

The items typify the overall Versace style with a focus on glamour via chain strap mini dresses, crystal hair slides, clutches and high heels. With a blend of elements from the label’s heritage and its Cruise 2020 offer, they also feature the brand’s bold baroque prints, its signature Medusa and Greek motifs, plus high-shine metallics and embellishments.

Donatella Versace said the collection “is a celebration of the Versace woman. Confidence, glamour and fun are in her DNA – she’s the life of the party. When I’m working with elements from the archive, I am working with the very soul of this brand and it is important to explain the context… I like to mix the iconic codes of Versace with something new and unexpected.”

As mentioned, exclusive collaboration are becoming increasingly important to luxury e-tailers. As more and more consumers are buying luxury product online, exclusives are a way of overcoming the issue of the same products being available at the same price on multiple rival platforms.

For the big names, exclusives are a way round this with initiatives such as Farfetch’s recent link-up with Prada for Linea Rossa, the multiple capsules launched by e-tailers such as Net-A-Porter, Mr Porter and Mytheresa, and even the luxe own-brands, such as Matchesfashion’s Raey.
