The initiative is led by filmmaker Miranda July and Artangel, and involves Islamic Relief alongside Jewish charity Norwood, London Buddhist Centre Charity Shop & Spitalfields Crypt Trust Charity Shop.

With staff from all four religious charities, the shop aims to raise money for the four organisations involved as well as other selected charities.

Despite its upmarket location in one of London’s most popular shopping destinations among wealthy tourists, the pop-up sells second-hand designer clothing by Gucci and Valentino, as well as high-street pieces, books, accessories, kitchenware, toys and bric-a-brac.

The space has been styled and curated by July and shoppers receive a yellow Selfridges bag with the name of the project on them.

The charity shop is located on the third floor of the department store and will remain open until 22 October.

Miranda July is a filmmaker, artist and writer, whose work has been showcased at MoMA, The Brooklyn Academy of Music and in two Whitney Biennials in New York.
