Mr Porter in high-profile collab with Celine Homme

Published
Nov 23, 2020

Mr Porter is continuing to dive deep into exclusive collaborations, and hot on the heels of its Loro Piana announcement comes one that’s a real headline-grabber. The YNAP-owned luxury menswear e-tailer is launching a one-season pop-up with Celine Homme.

It features an exclusive capsule dedicated to the label’s SS21 collection, which is called The Dancing Kid.

And it’s a fairly extensive launch too with 48 pieces from Slimane’s collection, 30 of them exclusive to Mr Porter, five of which have an exclusivity window from now to year-end.

It’s been a tough year for menswear, especially looks designed for office wear and socialising, so it’s no surprise that this collab focuses on items that can work just as well in the home as out of it, as well as more formal pieces that can be styled to be casual.

Mr Porter has described it saying the collection “speaks to the turning-point mood of the 2020s”.

The items, which have just debuted on sale, include black mirrored joggers, an acid-washed denim trucker jacket with appliqué patches, a black and white Baja knit poncho, an oversized T-shirt with The Dancing Kid logo, and a palm tree print camp-collar silk shirt.

The collection was “inspired by Eboys, current skate culture and new adolescent codes of dress and creativity [and] is a candid portrait of a generation that has taken advantage of confinement and isolation by asserting and emancipating itself through the spontaneity of dance, music and self-expression,” the companies said.

Given that it’s such a high-profile launch, it’s unsurprising that Mr Porter is putting major support behind it with a global digital campaign, plus dedicated editorial and social content.

Slimane invited six artists to participate in the campaign, “which has been realised as a group show, along with a new visual language anchored in dance and teen romance”.

On its Instagram site, Mr Porter is currently featuring a series of images of street skater Keith Hardy photographed “on a day- and night-long journey through Manhattan’s Lower East Side”.
