Moss Bros uses plastic bottles and corozo nuts to make Eco Suit

Underlining its commitment to sustainability, Moss Bros has launched an ‘Eco Suit’ made from recycled and natural materials.

It comes after growing consumer awareness of the fashion industry’s role in global pollution as millions of people joined demonstrations across the world on Friday to express their concerns about climate change.

The menswear brand said the suits are cut from recycled polyester-blend cloth, a green form of fabric that is obtained from used plastic bottles. Each suit is made from up to 45 plastic bottles, which would otherwise go to landfill.

Made in India, the eco-suit is lined with fabric that is a minimum of 99% post-consumer recycled polyester and the thread is made from 100% recycled polyester yarns. The buttons are made using corozo nuts, a 100% natural material that is durable, renewable and biodegradable.

Other green details include the pocketing fabric, which is OEKO-TEX certified and made using less chemicals and water, and polypropylene suit bags.

“At Moss Bros we have focused on supporting what is best for the environment wherever possible and consciously support our customers to do the same. The launch of the eco suit means that Moss Bros’ customers can move towards a more sustainable future while avoiding unnecessary waste,” said Brian Brick, company CEO.

The Eco Suit will be available in Moss Bros stores and online for £169.
