Moncler has launched a new range of jackets that are made entirely from sustainable materials. The jackets, which are available for women, men and kids, are part of the luxury outerwear company’s Born To Protect plan, a sustainability commitment that it announced back in October.

The company said they support its vision for a circular economy and their construction represents three of the five pillars laid out in the Born to Protect strategy.

The first is climate action with every material being sustainable. Fabrics and accessories, with the exception of down, are recycled ensuring a reduction of roughly 40% of CO₂ emissions.

The second is the circular economy with fabrics and accessories including zips and buttons being made of Econyl nylon, the regenerated nylon derived from ocean and land-based waste, ensuring the re-use of materials wherever possible.

And finally there’s fair sourcing, with the down it now uses across all of its products being 100% DIST (Down Integrity System and Traceability) certified. The down is derived exclusively from geese farmed for the purpose of meat and is a by-product of the food chain.

The jackets all come in black with the company saying that “sustainability is for everyone, all the time, so the jackets are created in a colour that can work in every occasion”.

The products’ packaging also continues the sustainability theme with all paper being sourced from responsibly managed forests, and shopping bags and gift boxes also include recycled paper.
