Moda Operandi appoints Etsy alum Kristina Salen as CFO

Digital luxury fashion platform Moda Operandi announced on Monday that it has appointed industry veteran Kristina Salen as its new chief financial officer.

 
In her new role, Salen will oversee Moda Operandi’s financial operations from the company’s NYC headquarters, where she will report to CEO Ganesh Srivats.
 
She joins the company from artist services and music distribution platform UnitedMasters, where she served as CFO and COO. Prior to this, she held the position of CFO at Etsy from 2013 to 2017, a period during which she helped scale the business’ gross sales from $895 million to $3 billion.

Previously, Salen, who holds a BA in Political Science from Vassar College and a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia Business School, served in a number of executive roles at Fidelity, Oppenheimer Capital, Merril Lynch, and Lazard Freres. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of SiriusXM and Cornerstone OnDemand.

The appointment is the latest in a series of executive hires made by Moda Operandi since Srivats stepped into the role of CEO last July, including the appointment of Puja Clarke as SVP of fashion buying and e-commerce, and the hiring of Lisa Aiken and Josh Peskowitz as the company’s women’s and men’s fashion directors.
