The organiser of UK trade show Moda said on Tuesday that it has pushed the date of the SS21 event back to September from August. It will take place from September 6-8 at The NEC in Birmingham.

Organiser Hyve Group said this means it will now take place alongside its other Birmingham-based retail trade show, Autumn Fair.

Event Director Adam Gough said: “After carefully monitoring the situation, and listening to our customers, we have decided to move the SS21 edition of Moda. This decision reflects our commitment to continuing the growth of one of the UK’s longest-standing and best-loved fashion trade shows and it is our hope that both exhibitors and visitors will support this decision.”

Moda will also be running an #InspiredByKindness campaign. The project, “which encourages people to share positive stories and acts of kindness, is designed to keep Moda’s community feel alive during this difficult time. Moda will be offering their platforms to both brands and retailers, in a bid to support their businesses and share the inspirational work and acts of kindness that have emerged from the current situation”.

The trade shows sector has been as devastated by the coronavirus pandemic as the retail sector has. While shows managed to take place during January and February, many scheduled for spring and into the summer have been cancelled or delayed. The inability for retailers to access the collections usually shown at such events and for labels to show their next-season offer will have implications further down the line, even when the pandemic has passed.
