Michael Kors announced on Friday the appointment of Andrea Pesaresi to president of the U.S. luxury brand's men's division.

The New York-based Michael Kors said Pesaresi will report to John Idol, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer. The position is effective October 15, 2018.

Pesaresi is a high-end men's fashion veteran, having spent 25 years at Ermenegildo Zegna, where his latest role at the Italian house was brand director of Z Zegna and licensing. In this capacity, he oversaw product development, brand strategy, international expansion and marketing.

Pesaresi's most recent career position, however, was as CEO of Philippe Model, the Italian-French footwear brand.

As head of Michael Kors menswear, the former-chief executive will be in charge of transforming the entire men's ready-to-wear offering, in the hope of making the division a one-billion-dollar sales machine.

“Andrea has been in the industry for 30 years and comes to us with extensive knowledge of the evolving luxury men’s marketplace,” said Idol, in a press release.

“Andrea will provide the necessary leadership to enable us to achieve our goal of developing the Michael Kors menswear business to $1 billion in revenue.”

The US label is honing in on China recent with its latest collaborative capsule with Chinese actress and singer Yang Mi to launch, as well as boosting its WeChat shopping operations in the Asian giant.

The Michael Kors brand grew 8% in the most recent quarter, reaching $1 billion, driven primarily by strong wholesale results, up 19.5%. Retail lifted 3.2%.
