Miansai will sell its jewelry out of airstream trailers across the country

The Miami-based jeweler is taking a new approach to retail by selling its products out of airstream trailers. The brand will make various stops across the country this summer, selling out of the refurbished vintage trailers.

Miansai has two physical stores, one in New York’s Soho neighborhood and one in Venice in Los Angeles, and is sold in the likes of Barneys, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, but the brand will try a new way to reach its customers.

Throughout the summer, Miansai will make stops in the likes of New York City, Newport and Palm Springs, selling its jewelry out of either a refurbished airstream trailer or Piaggio truck. The brand has acquired six vehicles to travel throughout the country, and will also include stops at high-volume airports like JFK to catch summer travelers.

As the brand started out by selling minimalist jewelry to men, its founder Michael Saiger sees selling out of cars as a good way to appeal to its male customer base. Despite the logistics of selling out of a trailer, the set-up will allow the brand to capitalize on high-traffic areas, plus the vintage look of the cars will appeal to the Instagram crowd. Saiger hopes to keep the tour going beyond the summer and if successful take it to international locations such as Hong Kong and London.

Saiger founded Miansai in 2008. The brand is now sold in 36 countries at various stores and its online shop.
