Fast-growing plus-size specialist Yours Clothing said Monday that its menswear label BadRhino will expand its brand presence by opening two standalone menswear stores this month.

It's an interesting move given that it comes at the same time as rival N Brown (which operates the women’s plus-size Simply Be and men’s larger-sized Jacamo brands), is considering closing all of its stores.

The BadRhino brand offers ‘affordable’ fashion up to size 8XL and also includes ‘tall’ fit and these will be its very first stores with one set for northern England and the other in the south. The first will open in Skegness in Lincolnshire and the second in Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. Both of these are coastal/resort towns with a major influx of people during the summer months. Both stores will be situated in the main high street shopping areas, rather than in malls.

The opening of the standalones comes after the company showcased the menswear range in 50 Yours Clothing stores across the UK and after customer demand “indicated the desire to see the full BadRhino product range in standalone stores.”

The firm's strategy is now to grow the brand significantly over the next year with further new store openings and third-party stockist deals with Asos, Zalando, Tesco and other big name retailers.

The Skegness location will open on June 29 and the Great Yarmouth one on June 30 with both having their ribbon cut by brand ambassador Terry Hollands, one of Britain’s strongest men. Hollands will also be in-store doing meet-and-greets and handing out giveaways.

The company is also looking for more sites to open under the BadRhino banner across the UK with plans already in place for a third standalone location this year.
