MCM launches global creative project, first collab is launched

Published
Oct 6, 2020

German accessories-to-fashion brand MCM has launched a new creative porject that sees it both supporting and working with creatives globally.

MCM's first in a series of collabs is with Midnight

The initiative will see it linking up with individuals and groups on upcylcing and recycling projects with Global Creative Officer Dirk Schönberger saying he wants the brand to engage with an international community of creative minds from various backgrounds and disciplines”.

MCM is offering a platform to showcase their work “and a voice to spread their message” with the non-seasonal project being seen as a long-term commitment.

It should result in both curated capsule collections and individual product drops.

The launch project sees it working with social activist Can Demirezen and four-year-old German streetwear brand Midnight. Demirezen’s hand-painted pieces are inspired by “the melancholy of the night and the spirit of the 90s,” as well as hip hop.

The collaboration that has just dropped features limited-edition upcycled screen-printed T-shirts, jackets and pants.

The company is promoting the initiative on its social channels and its Instagram account also features the first of a series of MCM Creative Minds conversations between Schönberger and Demirezen.

The new collection is available on the brand’s webstore as well as in its Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich flagships.
