Matalan to create 200 jobs at warehouse in Knowsley

Matalan has announced plans to create 200 new jobs at its Knowsley warehouse to meet the growing demands of its e-commerce customers.

The discount retailer revealed a 30% increase in online sales in its latest financial year, helping it post sales of £1.1 billion and pre-tax profits of £30.1 million.

The company has over 200 UK stores, which continue to perform well despite the “tough retail climate”.

So the retailer is now looking to take on more warehouse staff, and will create roles that will operate on a new shift pattern of four days on and four days off.

A Matalan spokesperson said: “This new shift pattern reflects the positive momentum being achieved across the business and will enable our continued modernisation as we seek to offer convenience and choice through a seamless omnichannel service."

The fashion business led by Jason Hargreaves is estimated to be worth around £500 million.
