British food and fashion store Marks & Spencer, which shut its French branches a decade ago, said Wednesday it will have a shop open on the Champs-Elysees before Christmas and plans four other Paris shops.

The company declined to set a date for the opening of its prime Paris location, but invited journalists for a look on November 23, feeding speculation it will be open for a full month of holiday shopping.

M&S International Director Jan Heere said the Champs-Elysees shop at 500 square meters (5,400 square feet) would offer only a selection of women's fashion, lingerie and food.

However the other four other much larger shops would carry M&S's full assortment of products, he added.

M&S announced its return to France in April and launched a French Internet store in October. CANNES, France, Nov 16, 2011 (AFP)
