Mark Allan is new CEO of Bluewater landlord Landsec

Landsec, the firm behind shopping centres including Bluewater, St David’s and Westgate, has hired a property veteran to succeed its current CEO Robert Noel.

Mark Allan, currently chief executive officer of St Modwen Properties, will take up the top role at the real estate firm next year at a date no later than 1 June.

He has been at St Modwen Properties for the past two years. Prior to that he was chief executive officer of The Unite Group for over ten years between 2006 and May 2016.

His experience will come in useful as Landsec continues to navigate the tough trading environment which has forced hundreds of stores end leases early on the back of company voluntary agreements.

“Mark has been a highly successful CEO of two companies in the property sector. He has demonstrated strong management skills and the strategic insights that we believe will build on the strengths of our business today and be invaluable for the next phase of Landsec's evolution,” said Cressida Hogg, chairman of Landsec.

She also thanked Robert Noel for his “successful leadership” and continued commitment. Noel will continue as CEO for the time being.
